EDINBURGH, UK – Holding our politicians to account and fact checking. Edinburgh Skeptics are teaming up with the University of Edinburgh Humanist Society to put on a special ‘evidence based’ hustings at Edinburgh University’s historic Teviot Row House Debating Hall. This will be a unique event where the panel and the audience will know some of the questions beforehand, and will be able to do their fact checking before the event. “At Edinburgh Skeptics we want evidence-based policy not policy-based evidence so we decided to put on a hustings with a very important twist. We are politically neutral, and look forward to what our politicians can bring to the event” said organiser Ewan Leeming. Whether or not you can make it down to the 400 seat venue, the event will be live-streamed on DemocracyTV Scotland at in a manner similar to C-SPAN in the US. The Edinburgh Skeptics Society was founded in 2009 to promote reason, science and critical thinking in Edinburgh and Scotland. We are a non-profit association dedicated to providing events, talks and performances aimed at the skeptical community of Edinburgh, throughout the year and during the Science and International Arts Festivals. We are proud to draw on the tradition of critical thinking and skepticism embodied by Hume and the Scottish Enlightenment.

We host a variety of regular events ranging from the family-friendly Skeptical Days Out,  to our monthly Skeptics in the Pub talks, Skeptics Underground discussion group and socials.  We coordinate a  full programme of talks and shows during the Edinburgh Festival and the Edinburgh Science Festival.
