Homoeopathy is a 200 year old German medicine that has never worked, will never work and would require everything we know about physics, chemistry and medicine to be wrong.

NHS Lothian are currently conducting a consultation to determine if they should still fund this debunked mysticism. Edinburgh Skeptics are devoting this months SitP meeting to spread the word about the consultation and encourage and inspire those with an interest in Evidence based medicine to make their voices heard.

Skeptics in the Pub

Edinburgh Skeptics’ Skeptics in the Pub talks are held at the Banshee Labyrinth in Niddry Street.  The talks take place in the Cinema and everyone is welcome to come early or stay late for a drink.

The £3.00 donation goes towards the speaker’s expenses and events such as Skeptics on the Fringe.

What is Skeptics in the Pub?

Skeptics in the Pub (SitP) started in 1999 in London as a regular lecture series on all things skeptical. Guest speakers are invited to give talks and a Q&A session. It has proved immensely popular and we are proud to host Scotland’s first Skeptics in the Pub here in the capital.

Edinburgh Skeptics in the Pub

6:00 pm - Pre-talk Social - A member of the Committee will be present from 6pm, so come along after work to a relaxed informal atmosphere.

7.30 pm - Main talk starts

9:00 pm - We now draw the official proceedings to a close at 9pm to make it easier to catch busses and trains home.

9.00pm onwards – extended Q&A/ Drinking skeptically

The bar is open late and so there is opportunity to stay around and talk with other skeptics and the speaker.
