There are many ways to gamble on sports and games. Whether buying a lottery ticket, going to the bookies or venturing into a casino, the options can be numerous and confusing.

In this talk, Ewan will be taking a skeptical view on many different types of gambling games and looking at how much the players can expect to win, the best strategy, and how much you need to cheat to guarantee a profit.

He will also look at the effects of gambling addiction and the psychology involved in having a flutter.

Ewan is a former maths teacher, barman, croupier, farm worker, shelf stacker, outdoor instructor, science communicator, event organiser. Current print worker, navigator, co-driver and semi-pro geek. Previous SOTF speaker, treasurer of Edinburgh skeptics and co-host of Edinburgh mathsjam.
